Building my foundation in front-end development as a freelancer.

My journey as a freelance front-end developer began with simple website updates and evolved into tackling dynamic, real-world challenges for small businesses and startups. From collaborating remotely to juggling multiple clients, I learned by doing and built the foundation of my skillset.

  • Landing Pages for Local Businesses

Designed and developed responsive landing pages for small businesses to boost their online presence, using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • E-Commerce Customizations

Worked on Shopify and WooCommerce stores, including custom UI components and optimizing performance for better user experience.

  • Debugging and Maintenance

Helped clients fix bugs and maintain their websites by debugging JavaScript issues and ensuring cross-browser compatibility.

  • Learning While Delivering

Quickly learned new frameworks like React and version control tools like Git while working on live projects for diverse clients.

  • Other Highlights

    1. Built reusable components for client projects, speeding up the development process without compromising quality.
    2. Strengthened skills in CSS frameworks like TailwindCSS and Bootstrap through hands-on work.
    3. Gained experience in remote client communication, managing deadlines, and negotiating project scopes.

Every project introduced me to different tools, approaches, and people who shaped my understanding of development. Some notable lessons:

  1. Learning to ask the right questions helped me understand client needs and deliver better results.
  2. Remote collaboration taught me discipline and time management, which became critical as I balanced multiple short-term gigs.

While freelancing gave me incredible learning opportunities, I realized the need for more mentorship and team collaboration. Working alone had its limits for growth.

Freelancing at this stage of my career also meant inconsistent pay—sometimes as low as $250 for a full week of work. I wanted to work on bigger projects, in teams, and in roles that aligned better with my long-term goals.
